Hello world, meet dcmpress.co
Hi there 👋
I’m Katlyn and welcome to dcmpress.co! I am so honored that you’re even here reading this blog. As a way of introducing this shop to the world, I’ll let you in on how dcmpress.co got its start.
For the record, dcmpress is a shortened version of decompress, and that’s because I make these greetings cards as a way to de-stress and recover from life’s drudgeries. 😅
So why do I love greeting cards so much? To better explain, let me share a few of my favorite things in life:
1. Print Design
I know it is a dying industry, but I love good design that’s tangible. Quite frankly, I don’t know how to explain this further besides emphasizing again that I love print design. So moving on to the next item…
2. Giving gifts
Not much to say here either but that it’s just really fun giving cute and fun stuff to the people you love.
3. Words of Affirmation
People often say actions speak louder than words, but sometimes, words just speak more clearly — straight to the heart.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve found that there’s something deeply fulfilling when you read a phrase that so succinctly yet accurately captures the messy conglomerate of feelings that are welling in your heart. Or when you hear words from a friend that bring tears to your eyes (or just a small grin if you’re the more stoic type) because it was just what you needed to hear in that moment. Or when you read a post or quote so insightful that you notice a glimmer of hope that wasn’t there before…
I know words don’t always hit us this way, but when they do, they really make our hearts warmer, our smiles brighter, and hopefully, our own words to others kinder. And that’s why I love sharing how I feel about someone, finding the right words to describe the complex emotions we humans swim through, and just talking to people, really.
So put these all together and that’ll explain why I find greeting cards a small but quite perfect way to give to someone you love some heartfelt words wrapped in a delightful print.
That’s all for now, but stay tuned for a short part two where I share what got me to design and create my own greeting cards. 😛
